OH! and tell me if you ever had that dark wish in your heart that the world will be post apocalyptic with radioactive disaster just so you can experience STALKER first hand in real life
having that surviving reality... that is exactly it! spot on!
OH OH! and did you see that photo blog of that russian woman (the biker) who made a trip to the zone, took photographs and wrote on all of her experience in chernobyl? that was great too
Exactly! Fallout 3 for example.. I loved those steam-punk elements and this early cold-war setting :'D Just cool!
But Stalker will be an alltime favourite.. I dont know about the blog.. you should send me a link or somethign! :'D
Haha, Stalker told me everything about surviving in a radioactive world. Please god, make the world post-apocalyptic. x'D! I really like this whole "Improvise Weapons / Traps" stuff and all that. But Zombie-Apocalypse would be cool aswell!
Ah and ever read about the Karachay Lake? (Google озеро Карача́й and you'll finde a few pics) Its the most dirtiest place on the world. Taking a walk there would kill you in a very short time I think I've read you'll fall into coma within minutes. But I cant remember really! :'D

I think they were expressing an interest in the subject, not directly saying they wanted or approved the use of nuclear weapons.

No, it was however a nuclear accident. I'm sorry, I will rephrase - "Not directly saying they wanted or approved of the use of nuclear weapons or wanted another nuclear accident" Better?

I know what you mean, and no i don't think you understand exactly what i mean when i say i'm fascinated by it,
beauty can be found in many things, something one finds beautiful may seem ugly to another.
i don't think the death and sacrifice is something beautiful if that's what you think...
i have all the respect for those who gave their lives on the roof of reactor #4 after the accident, and those that still pay the price today.
I'm fascinated with the story, the history of it, the atmosphere of the place, clocks stopped at the same hour, plates on the tables are still there, family photos and their personal equipment, its as if life stopped, i find it beautiful in a way, its hard to explain... but again, beauty can also be a relative thing....
and the thing about post apocalyptic world, its not serious man... its like some kind of dark wish, like maybe you had when you were a child (for example); being superman or something, and having a robbery that you stopped and saved the day, it doesn't mean you really want a robbery to happen and have people hurt by it only so you can save it, i think you know what i mean but its not what you think, sorry if you took offense in any way, we just shared a mutual fascination regarding a subject \ field of interest.

You didn't offend me, I was simply correcting the statement.
Anyone seen the stuff about Dragon age 2?
It looks like its more aimed at consoles

Dragon age was good, apart from the dwarven level and the end fight.

Finished the indigo prophecy! Truly awesome game, sadly so short. I loved how you could make the right decisions by logical thinking... given enough time - always the damn time! Great action sequeses too. Only thing that seems out of place is the stupid bonus cards, whats up with those? Just give us the damn extra material upon finish, you get to "buy" it anyway for the points you got from finishing.
Replay value I bet is pretty low I suppose, already tried the major endings.
Got any more games in the bag?

Metro 2033 looks good. It's post-apocalyptic, it has demons.. and.. uhm... GUNS... radiations.. russians... SUBWAYTUNNELS (!!!!oneoneeleven) its just cool. I got to play it for a few minutes and loved how you dont have like a virtual map. YOu grab a clipboard and your lighter and find the places via compass. If the place is radiated / full of gas you put on your gasmask and the character sets the wristwatch (if the filter is to poluted, you need to change it or otherwise you'll die.) Ah, and cool as well is the fact that you need to charge your flashlight from time to time hihi I forgot it once and the room was ultra dark.

That does sound kind of cool... but to tell the truth, I'm not into any scaaaaaaary games. You know, the kind where your heart is flying out of your chest from a shock - hated Bioshock. I don't know if this is it, but kinda looks like it.

Re: 20 years in PC gaming - name your favourite
A game without any shocking moments misses something! :/ I mean it works... but a dark setting needs shocking moments. And in Bioshock they were kept low... I think. Bioshock 2 had quite a bit. And Stalker had them, even though it not intended to. Its just those nasty animals jumping at you without you seeing em.. but yeah.... lets summarize:
Subway Tunnels+Darkness+Demons+Post apocalypse =
Alot, lot, lot of shock moments.
Just imagine. You see / hear beasts in a dark room...your flashlight and a little fire are the only lightsources in the room. THen your flashlight turns off, its pitch black, you only see a tiny bit via the fire wich is in some corner. And noises get louder. I mean.. thank god its no Xbox360/PS3 game. I tend to throw the controllers away. PLUS when I put my hands of the mouse (For somereason this feels safer) I can still hit ESC on the PC. Console: Throwing the Controller away...you have to watch it

Hmm, I got that in the Steam sale but it controlled really badly with keyboard/mouse, and didn't work with my 360 pad. Which controls did you use? Looks like a really interesting game.
