Re: Minecraft = Evil
Yeah, the Landerover Baptist's church is a joke. They say they are "God's favourite church" and are based in Iowa, in the fictional town of Freehold, which supposedly has it's own government.

I like the little touches to the people in that thread, for instance the one guy posts a pic in which you can see that his tabs are Landover Baptist Church, Rapture Ready and a google search for "gay amputee sex orgy".

Wow. Those two are my new heroes...
What a great life! How could you ever be bored/unhappy etc...
I guess if he wanted to play PC games he'd probably just build a solar powered super computer out of stuff he found in his bin
Thanks for that Ramses, made my day

Re: Minecraft = Evil
Meh, they've made a choice between the comforts of an urban environment and the freedom of their life now.
There aren't many places left where you can completely escape society - America has the space for it, luckily for them. Opting out is something thats becoming harder and harder with globalisation.
I was told about someone who in the 60s saved up and bought some land and started a farm in a remote place in Australia, and now 50 years later there are gas companies knocking at her door wanting to buy the land for development
Obviously their kind of idealism and choice to opt out can be seen as naive and maybe a little irritating, but at least in principle I think its good that that option is still available for some people.

Choice is overrated. So is freedom.
There are three things that make a man what he is, and to them he owes his allegiance. They are his mother, his father and his country. You can't choose any of them.

Re: Minecraft = Evil
More than three things, surely? The people you meet, your friends, your combined experiences of the world etc. There are tonnes.
And the point is, while you may not be able to choose your parents or country, you can choose to leave them - i.e you can choose to move away from your country, therefore opting out of it's society/culture. Or just move into a remote area of wilderness and live there.
And I would say that choice and freedom are underrated if anything
Also, owing allegiance to something you don't choose is a little tricky - there are many examples where that isn't such a great thing.

Tbh, that all comes under "your country".

Wherever I go I'd still be British, I wouldn't ever ex-patriate without intending to someday return. But, even if you do, you still owe that debt to your country.

It's not easy, I never said it was. But I say that rejecting your country is on the same level as rejecting your parents, and should be considered as such.
And what I mean about not having a choice is that honour so often means that you have only one option. You can't leave the weak fallen, you can't allow injustice to pass while you can prevent it, you must honour your debts, things like this are not improved by a perceived idea that you can choose to do something different.

Re: Minecraft = Evil
All humans are entirely free in all their choices, even when it may appear circumstances constrict them in some way.
No one owes any debts to any other human being, whether they choose to trap themselves with the chains of such concepts as loyalty is, as already said, their choice.

Shit, yeah. I'm lawful evil but that doesn't sound like that either, I've just ruined my rep.
Hang on. Well, it sounds a bit fascist maybe.
Damnit, I only support the good parts of fascism.
